With the final deadline at the end of the week, this week I was focused on catching up with bits of old work and completing my essay. I chose to work from home rather than in class, as I find that when time is tight, I’m much more productive and focused in my own space. Although I’m eligible for late submission, I don’t want to use it so I don’t build a habit of not meeting deadlines and because this year is pass or fail, I’m less worried about going over and perfecting work.
One of the main things I needed to complete was recording walkthrough videos for my projects. For the VR task, I hadn’t finished building my room when the rest of the class was recording their walkthroughs. Ideally, I would have liked to film my demonstration using an actual headset, but since I don’t have much experience with them, and was short on time, I decided to use the XR simulator in Unity and record it on my laptop instead. If we do more VR projects in the future, I’ll make sure to stay on top of it so I can make full use of the equipment available.
When I went to record for the creative tech task 1, I discovered my board had stopped working properly. Over the Easter break, I changed how the LED functioned, assuming it wouldn’t affect the rest of the components. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case, and my piezo buzzer wasn’t playing its melody correctly, and sometimes not at all. This meant I had to go back and rewrite the code again, meaning I also had to rewrite parts of the task documentation I had already completed. This was a bit stressful, as I already had a lot to be doing and didn’t expect this extra piece of work.
While organising my submission folder, it hit me how much work I’ve produced this term. It’s quite a lot to look at all in one place. Even though I feel like I could have done better or more on some tasks, it’s nice to step back and recognise what I’ve managed to achieve and feel proud of it.
