A great start to the week, as it was the first time I was able to attend in person.
We continued with web development, moving on from basic HTML to CSS. I had been taught this briefly in sixth form, but I had struggled with it and never got to implement it. Learning it again in a new way and environment made it very clear, and actually, getting to implement it made me see how fun it is. It was also interesting to try and work things out myself before following the tutorial. I used the group’s website during the workshop, and I’m excited to apply my new CSS skills to the website I had made at home.
I had never thought about the importance of responsive breakpoints until this week’s workshop on making a gallery, and I’m sure I’ll discover much more that goes into web development. My favourite CSS skill I learnt was animating an image. We learnt how to do a square pattern and I’d like to explore different types of patterns in my own time.
Researching CSS frameworks and methodologies was quite frustrating, but I appreciate the need to follow one when working in a team or on a large project. I am going to practice using the SMACSS framework on my core web development task 1.
