This week, I finished the first Pololu task. It was particularly relieving since there was a definitive endpoint: the Pololu follows and remembers the maze. As in the previous projects, where it was more creatively free with a fairly open brief, it was hard to determine when I was finished. Like my Solar LED tree for the sustainability project, even though I have a prototype and have moved on from that project, it still feels unfinished.
However, because of this structured step by step nature of this Pololu project, I’m finding it difficult to write about it in the documentation since there wasn’t much trial and error/ learning from mistakes compared to the last project. I’m also struggling to figure out how much detail to go into when talking about the code, since a lot of it was a template given to me, but I’m going to focus on the parts that I played around with and am most familiar with, like the path remembering and simplifying.
This week, I did some home repairs. An electric shaver had stopped working, and I thought with my newfound circuit knowledge from this year, I thought I would take it apart and see if I could fix it myself. And I could! The battery’s positive cable had come unattached, so I was able to solder it back on, and it started working again. This gave me a good confidence boost since I could easily recognize what was going on on the circuit board.
